12 Month WHM Visa Applicants
If you have secured your 12 month WHM Visa, you can pick up work
in bars, building and construction, child care, catering, café
and restaurants, fruit picking and packing, get cash quickly by
doing harvest work, cattle and farm work, tree planting, felling
or mining, fishing and pearling, work which will enable you to
secure a second work visa so long as you work long enough!
Make sure you take a couple of copies of your CV and some references,
even take a disc of it or have it on the web, so you can email
it and register with numerous employment agencies.
Get a bank account as soon as possible, so employers can pay
you – contact us and we will organise you one!
You will also need to get yourself a Tax File Number (TFN). You
will need to give this to your employer otherwise you will be
taxed at the emergency rate of 48.5% on your pay instead of the
usual rate of between 15-30%. You will also be able to claim some
if not all your tax back on your departure by having a TFN - contact
us and we will organise you one!
In Australia, 'superannuation' (called pension in other countries),
whereby employers must pay 9% of what you earn into a fund for
retirement. This 9% will be in addition to what the employer pays
you.
You can't retrieve this money until you are old enough to retire
or under other special circumstances, however as a foreigner,
when you leave Australia you can get all your superannuation contributions
