Skilled Sponsored Visa Application

The Skilled Australian Sponsored visa operates on a points based system that focuses on the skills, qualifications, work experience and english ability of the applicant.

The current pass mark for a Skilled - Australian Sponsored visa for migration to Australia is 100 points.

The application is supported by a sponsor "close relative" to the applicant or spouse.

This type of visa entitles people emigrating to Australia to gain permanent residency status. After a four year period, providing relevant criteria have been met, the visa holder may apply for Australian citizenship.

Eligibility Criteria

Age: Applicants must be under 45 years of age.

Skills & Qualifications (the main applicant)

Must meet the qualifications and/or work experience requirements under the relevant skills assessment body in their occupation.
Must nominate a skilled occupation that appears on the most recent version of the Skilled Occupations List.
Must have been in recent paid employment for at least 20 hours per week in any of the Skilled Occupations List, and:
If the nominated occupation is worth 60 points, must have been employed 12 out of the last 24 months before applying.
If the nominated occupation is worth 40 or 50 points, must have been employed 2 of the last three years before applying.

Sponsorship: The visa applicant or spouse must be related to a sponsor close relative" as a non-dependant child, a parent, a brother or sister, or Aunt or Uncle. They should also be 18 years of age or over. The nominated sponsor must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or Eligible New Zealand Citizen.

Health & Character: There are strict health and character requirements that must be met before any permanent Australian visa of more than 12 months will be granted. Applicants will need to undergo:

Undergo a medical examination and chest X-ray undertaken by one of a panel of doctors selected by the Australian authorities, and;
Obtain a police clearance certificates for all countries in which you have lived for more than 12 months in the last 10 years.

Processing Times: The current processing time for General Skilled Sponsored Migration Visa is 9-12 months from the start of the application process
