Working Holiday Maker Visa
The young persons 12 month Australian Working Holiday Visa programme
allows applicants to casual work rights, whilst supplementing
their funds whilst in Australia.
Employment must be incidental for the main purpose of holidaying
for no more than 6 months with any one employer at anytime.
Your first application for an Australian Working Holiday Visa
must be made outside of Australia.
The Australian Government will allow holders of the young person’s
Working Holiday maker Visa to apply for a second Working Holiday
Maker Visa provided they have worked as a seasonal employee in
regional Australia for 3 months.
Australia Working Holiday Maker Visa holders who undertake work
for 3 months or 88 days in areas such as harvesting and fruit
picking, fishing and pearling, tree farming and felling or mining,
will be eligible to apply for a second Working Holiday Maker Visa,
thus extending their trip from 12 months to 24.
Applications for a second Australia Working Holiday Visa can
be made both offshore and onshore in Australia.
To apply for your young person’s Australian Working Holiday
maker Visa, you must be:
- Aged between 18-30 years (inclusive)
- Have no dependent children
- Able to show sufficient funds of ($A5000) or £2200 equivalent
for the initial part of your stay – you may be asked to
show evidence of this in the form of a bank statement and onward
travel ticket fare
- Good Health
- Good Character
- Intend to holiday in Australia whilst supplementing funds
by incidental work
The following passport holder countries are eligible to apply
for the young persons Working
Holiday Maker Visa online:
Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany,
HKSAR, Italy, Japan, Malta, Norway, Republic of Ireland, Republic
of Korea, Sweden, Taiwan, The Netherlands & United Kingdom.
The young person’s Working Holiday Maker Visa permits the
holder to enter Australia within 12 months of the issue date of
the visa.
On arrival, your visa is activated and is valid for 12 months.
As it is a multiple entry visa, you may leave and re-enter Australia
as many times as you wish during your 12 month stay.
However, if you depart Australia during your 12 month stay you
are not able to recover the period of time you have spent outside
Australia.
Australian Working Holiday Maker holders are able to find temporary
or casual employment, whilst the main purpose of the visa is for
holiday and travel.
The following visa conditions apply:
- You must not engage for more than 4 months in any studies
or training
- You must not be employed by any one employer for more than
six months
Failure to do so may result in the visa being cancelled.
Processing times can take up to 8 weeks to process, however this
time may be extended if a you have a declared a criminal conviction
or if you need to undergo a medical as part of your application.
